Prince Albert Tobacco Tin

$ 5.00

Prince Albert Tobacco is an American brand of tobacco which was introduced onto the market by R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in 1907. Prince Albert is one of the most popular independent pipe tobacco brands in the U.S. The blend is burley-based and the brand is still available today.

This vintage Prince Albert tobacco tin is the 1-1/2 oz tin.  The pictures are representative of the actual tin.  Each tin will have different variations of rust and discoloration, but expect to get a tin very similar to the pictures.

"Prince Albert in a can"

The brand is famously the basis for a practical joke. Pranksters would typically telephone convenience stores, asking: "Do you have Prince Albert in a can?" When the clerk replied that they did, the caller would follow with, "Well you should let him out then!"

In Weird Al Yankovic's parody of the TLC song, 'Waterfalls", "Phoney Calls", Yankovic sings: "Little Melvin has a natural obsession / Asking for Prince Albert in a can / he gets a kick every time he makes a collect call / to some guy he doesn't know who lives in Japan".
